Getting Started with Open Theory
Welcome!
Open Theory is a decentralized network of undergraduates and highs chool students exploring foundational theoretical physics.
1. Tools
We use a small set of common platforms to communicate.

2. How to Join
There is no application, fees, or requirements. If you want to participate:
- Join our discord here and introduce yourself in the
#cafechannel. - Join our bi-weekly seminar meetings. Listen in, ask questions, discuss. Check upcoming dates.
- When you are ready, claim the stage! You can present a past project, a paper or physics/mathematics blogposts you have found, a topic or open problem (e.g., from a lecture).
3. Culture
- No stupid questions: We are all students and constantly failing and learning. If you get stuck or don’t understand something, speak up and ask immediately.
- Simplicity over specialization: Especially if you are presenting, don’t try to explain the latest and more complex theories. Instead try to rigorously present the foundations of an open question and keep thinks clear also for people that may never have listened of this topic
- Zero-pressure: Your studies come first. There are no attendance or presentation requirements. If you have upcoming exams or are on vacation, you can see the video recording when you want.
